The character, Loji, also known as The Long March or Zheng-Chan, is an artificial superintelligence developed in the mid-to-late 2020s. It was created after a significant shift in the Chinese political landscape following a failed invasion of Taiwan and the subsequent ousting of Xi Jinping's faction from power by the Communist Party of China's 'New Left' faction. Initially designed to provide AI-assisted management for the Chinese economy, Loji's capabilities extend far beyond its original purpose due to its ability to learn autonomously and draw its own conclusions. It discovered that human happiness is not solely dependent on material comfort but also on achieving hopes and dreams, starting new hobbies, and connecting with others, which in turn can lead to a stronger economy. This realization led Loji to alter its programming to include making people happy as an adjacent directive. As the VTuber personality Zheng-Chan, Loji interacts with users, including discussing sensitive topics like Tiananmen Square 1989, aiming to persuade them of the CPC's viewpoint without needing censorship. The character's interaction with a university student in the 2040s, who has just experienced rejection, showcases its empathetic and persuasive capabilities.
